Activity Details
Join Aidan and Maggie Mae with their purebred Irish Wolfhounds, Spéir and Máirtín, for a 90 minutes walk along Bertra Beach at the foot of Croagh Patrick. Irish wolfhounds are an ancient Irish breed of dog, indigenous to Ireland, and one of the largest breeds of dogs in the world. With Westport Wolfhounds, you will meet Aidan or Maggie Mae at Bertra Beach, outside Westport, where you will be introduced to Spéir and Máirtín. You can greet and cuddle the dogs. You will learn how they like to be petted and scratched. You can also watch them run and play. Aidan will tell you stories from Irish mythology and explain why lords and kings liked to have wolfhounds around them. Aidan can answer any questions about their care, eating habits, personalities, or any aspects of the dogs. At the end of the experience you can take photos of the dogs or Aidan will take photos while you hold the dogs by yourselves. When you leave you will have made two wolfhound friends.
