Activity Details
If you cannot make it to our location on Bertra Beach, We will meet you at your accommodation or a location near you so that you can pet, cuddle and get to experience the Irish Wolfhounds of Ireland, and hear some of the myths and legends of the largest dogs in the world. You can meet, greet and cuddle the dogs. Learn how they like to be petted and scratched and watch them run and play. I will tell you stories about Grainne Uaile (Grace O’Malley), our legendary Pirate Queen! and of the Legends of Cuchulain & his wolfhounds, from Irish mythology. And explain why the past lords & kings of Ireland kept the wolfhounds around them. I can tell you about we take care of their personal needs and eating habits. Explain about their beautiful, deep personalities, and answer as best I can any questions you may have about these majestical hounds. At the end of your experience, you can take photos of the dogs or I will take photos for you, while you hold the dogs by yourselves. By that time, you may have made two wolfhound friends.

- Footwear for walking
on the beach, and dress to keep warm and stay dry. (Hats & scarves
and jackets on a cold/wet day). It can be wild weather in the winter
months, and the Wolfhounds love it!.
Restrictions
The Beach is difficult to maneuver with buggies and wheelchairs - The 'Meet and Greet' option may suit better.

Fabulous experience with Aidan and his gentle giants! Aidan is a great storyteller, his hounds are beautiful and we learned a lot about Ireland and a local redhead. The walk along the beach made the experience even more special.Aidan gave us suggestions as to where to head to next on our way back to our airbnb in The Neale. What an incredible day! Easily the highlight of our trip. The dogs are beautiful and the stories/conversation was even better! It was a great way to learn more about Westport and take in some beautiful scenery we might not have otherwise

Oh my gosh! This was an amazing experience! For all dog lovers, this is for you! Aiden met us with Martin & Skye (their English names), at Bertra Beach. We spent the next 90 minutes walking along the beach, hearing interesting history of Ireland and the Irish Wolfhound’s place in it. Aiden is a lovely, approachable man and the pups were just incredible. Would highly recommend this tour!

We absolutely loved our beach walk today, the dogs are beautiful and friendly, and we heard some cracking stories about the area's history and mythology. So glad we were able to fit this experience into our trip to Ireland.
